It's Derby Time!
The glorious Churchill Downs Racetrack will become a parade of fancy hats, fashion statements, and mint julep-drinking, horse-betting fanatics and revelers alike.
As the always vibrant city of Louisville prepares to charm hundreds of thousands of visitors from around the world, here's a quick guide to the best eats, sleeps, and things to do while in Louisville for the Derby. To fully enjoy all that the city has to offer, book early and make reservations!
Where to Eat
Jack Fry's - A Lousiville establishment since 1933. The shrimp n' grits is as good as it gets.
Harvest – Farm-to-table at its best, in an understated, casually elegant atmosphere.
Corbett’s – A five-star dining experience worth the drive as it’s about a 20-minute drive from Downtown Louisville.
Toast – the locals go-to place for breakfast and brunch.
Please & Thank You – Best coffee in town.
Where to Stay
21C Museum Hotel – An art hotel, gallery, and hot spot in town. The hotel's restaurant, Proof, is a destination in and of itself, as is its bar -- Proof on Main.
Things to do outside of Churchill Downs
Hit the Bourbon Trail with Mint Julep Tours – Over a dozen bourbon distilleries are located within an hour or less of Louisville and are open for tours and tastings daily.
MEGA Cavern Zipline – believe it or not, Louisville is home to the world's only underground cave zip line course. The Mega Cavern is a fun, family-friendly adventure to escape the horse crowd for a few hours.
