In the 3rd episode of my #HolaGringo trip along the famous GringoTrail through South America I want to show you a little gem not far away from Machu Picchu.
The Inca site Coquequirao is even bigger than the MP but only accessible by an exhausting 4 day hike.
I went all the way up and it was totally worth it!
We walked almost alone through a very well preserved Inca citadelle, enjoyed spectacular views and an amazing landscape. The exvacation is still ongoing and you can watch it live if you are over there.
The trail itself is worth the journey
From a village in a very high valley you walk down to a river where you have to cross with a little cable car before you head steep uphill.
Another bonus are the costs:
There is no entrance fee and the campsites are very cheap - for transportation you can use local buses from and to Cusco (around 3 hrs).
