As soon as we arrived into Frankfurt from our time in Rothenburg we met up with our blogger friend Annie Bishop. We headed towards Frankfurt city centre and explored the Christmas Markets, there are quite a few of them around the city and we wanted to make sure to explore them all.
The atmosphere was brilliant with everyone in the Christmas spirit, huddled around a wooden barrel drinking steamy Glühwein (mulled wine), people taking photos of the gigantic decorated tree and people of all ages just generally having a good time.
There also seemed to be quite a few couples getting married with just a handful of guests each just next to the market, starting their married life with a spin on the merry-go round! Is this a thing in Frankfurt?
We queued forever, ok about an hour and a half, to go to the top of the Main Tower (54th floor) -- this long wait actually worked well in our favour as we got up there late enough to start seeing the sunset and get an amazing time lapse over the city. We’d definitely recommend going up here to get a real view of the city!
We checked into the Goldman Hotel, part of the small German hotel chain called 25 Hours Hotel. If you haven’t seen any of their hotels, look them up, they are all fun, quirky and truly unique. Though soap and toiletries are complimentary like most hotels, so is the use of their Mini Coopers during your stay! On this occasion we had hired our own car, but the soaps were still great!
