Our fourth stop was Bolivia. Here, for the first time since we started the trip, we were able to visit three cities: La Paz, Coroico, and Cochabamba.
La Paz is the non political capital of the country (the constitutional one is 400 kilometers to the northwest in Sucre).
Along with the cities in the metropolitan area (El Alto and Viacha), La Paz has a population of 2.3 million people. The majority of the population is indigenous and the Aymara culture is still very present here.
Traditions that may be less surprising in a rural area, like the use of llama fetuses to exorcise land and houses, are very much alive within the city center.
