There is nothing more wonderful than traveling to Sapa in Vietnam, which is a famous tourist site.

Sapa is about 370 km distant from Hanoi. In Sapa, tourists can immerse themselves in the natural and manmade scenery.

Means of Transportation to Sapa

From Hanoi, there are 2 main means of transportation which are train and passenger car to Sapa:

Train: There are 4 departures from Hanoi to Lao Cai and vice versa. The train time includes 7h40pm, 8h35pm, 9h10pm and 9h50pm. It takes you 8 hours to arrive in Lao Cai. In the peak season, you have to contact the travel agencies in advance for the round trip tickets to Sapa to avoid the out of ticket situation to comeback to Hanoi.

The one-way ticket price from Hanoi to Lao Cai ranges from 250.000 VND/person to 650.000 VND/person according to the type of ticket for bed or seat. You should directly go to the train station to buy the tickets before 3 or 4 days. Buying on weekdays is very good. 

One more thing you should notice is the ticket information is listed as carriage number and room number. 

From Lao Cai to Sapa, you should take the bus at a  price of 50.000 VND/person

Passenger Car: The best passenger car brands are Vietbus and Hung Thanh. The ticket fare is 150.000 to 180.000 VND/person including air conditioning and bed.

In Sapa, if needed, you can rent a car within the price range of 150.000 VND to 200.000 VND/day.

 

Hotels in Sapa

For the trip to Sapa, visitors have many accommodation options, with many hotels offering different prices. The most expensive hotels are Victoria, Chau Long while the medium class hotels include Sapa View, Bamboo, Holiday, Fansipan View ... Standard hotels are Sapa, Sapa Star Light, Unions ... These hotels are affordable and very professional.

Normally, major hotels have a restaurant and also offer buffet breakfast free of charge (included in the room price), only 90,000-100,000 VND/ person on average (according to the set menu food). Buffet (a la cart) will be more expensive but the food more hygienicly prepared.

 

Foods in Sapa

Breakfast: The chicken noodle restaurant is opposite the bus station or in the market of Sapa, there is a stilt restaurant serving cheap but tasty foods.

Lunch - Dinner: There are two restaurants highly recommended by locals, which are Hoa Dao Dung with good food, reasonable prices, or a variety of restaurants on the side of the Sapa church. The regional vegetables in Sapa are especially delicious. In the evening you can order chicken hot pot to eat and enjoy the sweetness of vegetables in Sapa.

Extra meal at Night: Eating barbeque, baked eggs, meat skewers at a wide range of street stalls near the church (the road up to Ham Rong Mountain) and Lake. Number of barbeque stalls here are very high.

If you intend to try all the foods in Sapa, you will definitely be spoilt for choice. Examples are beef stuffed with spinach and fresh chives, grilled salmon roll, squid roll, bamboo-tube rice and so on.

 

Drinks in Sapa

You should drop by the Sapa coffee shops with a beautiful view. You can choose the luxury of a quiet place inside the shops or a café on sidewalk, the side of the church and market. You can comfortably sightsee the scenes of Sapa.

In Sapa, visitors cannot ignore the following attractive tourist destinations: Mount Fansipan, Ham Rong Mountain, Cat Cat Village, Silver Waterfall, etc.

 

Some Small Notes on the Sapa trip:

After a day out, if you feel tired, do not hesitate to enjoy the bathing and foot massage services by the Dao people, to dispel any fatigue. The service costs about VND200.000 / session.
