Top Destinations for Horse Lovers and Equestrians

A horseback riding trip can be exciting and exhilarating at the same time.

It has been proven time and time again that there are a variety of benefits of horseback riding including the psychological and spiritual bond between this magnificent animal and human beings.

While there are a large number of memorable trails scattered across the globe, there are a few that will truly astonish equestrians.

My Favorite Horseback Riding Destinations

1. Ecuador

The Ecuadorian city of Cotopaxi is magnificent for a horseback riding experience in an all natural scenery. With surroundings such as the Ilinizas Mountain, the Sincholagua Mountain, and various valleys, this will prove to be a prime location and a "must-return" destination.

2.  U.S

Otherwise known as the "House of Sun", the Haleakala National Park in Hawaii is perfectly perched at a whopping 10.23 ft above sea level and is the highest peak on the island of Maui. One of the best things to do in the Haleakala National Park is horseback riding. As the horse gallops away, riders are able to fully experience the Hawaiian culture as they relish in the views of La Pérouse Bay,  the site of Maui's most recent volcanic activity.

3. Italy

Specifically, Tuscany. With gorgeously lush vineyards and olive groves, equestrians can enjoy horseback riding and trekking through a marvelous trail throughout the Chianti region. For the less experienced horseback riders, you too can savor in the immense beauty of artistic and historic places such as Castello di Tocchi, a gorgeous castle that was built in the year of 1100.

4. Bahamas

Perfectly situated just off the shore of Nassau, the capital, is Paradise Island. A striking island with beautiful blue waters and various trails along the Coral Harbor. Have an unforgetful view of the beach as you ride along on a relaxing pace.

5. Peru

If you have an interest in history and are equestrians, the Andes in Peru is the ideal location for your horseback riding adventure. In the Land of the Incas, you will get the chance to go horseback riding or trekking through dramatic scenery, allowing you to embark on a spiritual journey like no other.

6. India

For an exotic experience, head to Rajasthan and go on a palace-to-palace horseback ride where you will get to see gorgeous architectural wonders that serve us as a reminder of the many kingdoms that historically reigned in the region.

For a bit of nature and wildlife, head to the Aravalli Mountains and into the Kumbhalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary, home of the endangered wolves of India. There, you will get the chance to see the trail before your eyes, from a low hillside to steeper mountains that are home to various vegetations.
