The sign post forest is a must see when traveling the Yukon Territory.
It is located in the town of Watson Lake on the Alaska Highway.
The landmark is a collection of signs that are put up by travelers from all over the world.
It started in 1942 when Private Carl K. Lindley, was ordered to repair a sign indicating the distances to various points along the road. Lindley added his own sign with the distance to his hometown, and from then on everybody kept adding their own signs.
I saw this during a motorcycle trip from Texas to Alaska and it is definitly worth the stop. My only regret is that I had not planned on seeing this and didn't brig a sign to leave behind.
Maybe next time!
