Corcovado is a mountain in central Rio de Janeiro.
The 710-metre granite peak is located in the national park "Tijuca Forest". Corcovado hill lies just west of the city center but is wholly within the city limits and visible from great distances. It is known worldwide for the 38-meter statue of Jesus atop its peak.
The peak and statue can be accessed via a narrow road or by train (which costs R$45 for a round trip up to Cristo Redentor), and it is definitely worth the view. The train trip takes approximately 20 minutes and departs every half hour. As there are so many tourists visiting the peak (300'000 per year), it can take several hours to board one... :(
