Devon is a fantastic county in Great Britain with lots of wonderful sights ranging from beautiful seaside resorts to flowing countryside.
It's often overlooked by Brits in search of sun elsewhere but you'll struggle to find a more relaxing escape than soaking up the country air and relaxing in a holiday cottage in North Devon or South Devon.
One of the main attractions is Dartmoor, with its rolling, rugged moors that will transport you back to Victorian days. And as you explore you'll stumble across quaint little villages and happy folks that are delighted to see a fresh face. You might even get offered some famous Devon Cream Tea.
If the countryside's not for you though then don't despair, Devon is also home to the English Riviera. Torquay, Paignton and Brixham doesn't have quite the same ring as Cannes, Nice and St Tropez but it certainly delivers on an entertainment front. Gorgeous seaside bars and restaurants and the fresh sea air will leave you a happy camper.
And once you've had your fill of the sea and sun then you can move on to the delightful towns and cities that are strewn across the county. Exeter is at the heart of it, as both a historical relic and an upcoming cosmopolitan hub. Plymouth, Exmouth and Honiton all echo this feel and are all well worth a stop on your travels as well.
Whichever you choose it's fair to say that Devon is an unpolished gem, and worth a trip for anyone. And if you're lucky you might even catch some sunshine as well.
