With smooth sand beaches and crystal blue water, it’s no wonder Sousse is Tunisia’s most well known beach destination.
Both lively and relaxing, the perfect stretch of sand that Mövenpick Resort & Marine Spa has claimed has something for everyone to enjoy.
You can take a dip in the ocean, unwind under a straw beach umbrella or let loose by going paragliding and jet skiing through the resort’s water sports base.
Don’t be surprised if while you’re taking in some sand and sunshine, you see a friendly camel wander by to delight the children!
Safe and relaxed, Mövenpick has security and lifeguards posted through out it’s piece of beach giving peace of mind to parents and couples alike.
I spent most of my beach time swimming in the ocean and reading a book on top of the powder soft sand on one of Mövenpick’s over-sized beach towels. Of course, if you would rather lay in a umbrellaed beach chair, the loungers are thick cushioned and plentiful.
When you are done relaxing on the beach, you can choose from one of Mövenpick’s three spectacular outdoor swimming pools to refresh you. With towering palm trees and grassy islands linked by bridges, you can’t help but feel like you are in the middle of your own desert oasis.
Ping pong tables and a children’s pool keep the kids happy, a full bar, the wonderful waterside restaurant, Levant Grill and snack bars appeal to adults.
A day relaxing on the beach or lounging at the pool is just what you need to settle into your holiday... but you can always unwind a little more if you want to as well.
Mövenpick’s world class Marine Spa specializes not only in more traditional spa treatments and Tunisian-inspired techniques but also offers new and innovative treatments like thalassotherapy.
Thalassotherapy is a skin treatment that uses natural saltwater as a medical form of therapy. I was excited to try thalassotherapy after reading about it in health magazines and especially at the Mövenpick Marine Spa because their exceptional reputation in the spa community.
After a cup of herbal tea and an appointment with a medical doctor, I soaked in a bath of warm water while a stream of salt water was waved all over my skin with a wand. It felt amazing! Rejuvenating and calming at the same time.
Afterward, my skin felt tighter and my muscles were more relaxed.
I also tried the hour long Milk and Honey Bath. The Milk and Honey Bath is definitely a treat. You can find your zen while laying in a bubbly hot tub filled with silky milk and sweet honey. Soft music, aromatic candles and dim lighting help you fall even deeper into a state of serenity.
My skin felt luxuriously soft and my everyday stresses were gone after the session.
I finished my spa day with a ninety minute Deep Tissue Massage.
In traditional Tunisian fashion, my skin was scrubbed with salt and oil easing out the last bit of surface tension before the masseuse got to work on my muscles.
If you have any stubborn aches and pains, this is the massage for you!
Eucalyptus scented candles will lull you into relaxation while your muscles get heated up and worked out.
Each masseuse is matched with each guest by the questionnaire you fill out before your massage. Everything is covered from health questions to pressure preferences to make sure you get paired up with the best masseuse for you.
By the end of my 90 minute massage, I felt like I had been on vacation for a month! All of my knots were gone and my shoulders and back were more relaxed than ever. I especially liked the rose scented oil used during my massage. It made my skin smell lovely all day.
After your treatment, you are welcome to continue your peace while sipping herbal tea on overstuffed couches in the relaxation room or spending time in the sauna.
To make your spa day even more relaxing, Mövenpick offers “VIK,” the Very Important Kid’s Club. You can drop your little ones off in the morning and pick them up right before dinner, all the while knowing they are having just as much fun as you are at the spa.
