How to Get the Most Out of Flying Business Class

Flying Business Class? Whether you've used your miles for an upgrade or you've purchased your own flights, you'll want to make full use of the facilities on offer.

From lounge access and priority boarding to lie-flat seats and high-end dining, Business Class can be a real treat, so it's important to know what's included in your ticket.

How to Get the Most Out of Flying Business Class

Book the chauffeur service

Certain airlines like Virgin Atlantic, Etihad or Lufthansa offer a chauffeur driven car service if you've booked Business Class flights. You'll need to make sure you book in advance, but it's well worth doing - why order a taxi or struggle with your bags when you can be whisked to the airport in a luxury car?

Arrive early to the lounge

Before the flight you'll have access to the Business Class lounge, so give yourself plenty of time to take full advantage of the facilities. You can freshen up in the shower rooms, print your documents in the business centre and enjoy a pre-flight glass of champagne while you wait for your flight to be called . Some airline lounges have a la carte dining, so if you wish to sleep during the flight, it's best to enjoy a nice relaxing meal in the lounge before you board the plane. That way you're not going to be waiting up for the meal service once you're up in the air.

If you fly with British Airways have the option of a complimentary treatment in the Elemis Travel Spa, so it's always worth booking in a bit of pampering before the journey!

Say 'yes' to the pre-flight amenities

Usually before take-off the cabin crew will come around to introduce themselves. They'll offer you things like hot towels, magazines, a glass of champagne or nuts while you get yourself comfortable. Say yes to whatever you'd like, and don't be afraid to ask for a refill!

Get acquiainted with your seat

If you're flying in international Business Class then it's likely you'll have a seat that converts into a fully-flat bed, so make sure you figure out which buttons operate what. You'll also probably have lots of different storage compartments for things like laptops and water bottles, so it can be fun to spread your belongings out and put them in their special places!

Order whatever you like!

Business Class dining is like dining in a high-end restaurant, with multi-course meals served on high-quality tableware. Airlines like Singapore Airlines even offer a 'Book the Cook' service, allowing you to pre-order dishes such as Lobster Thermidor and Lamb Chops up to 24 hours before your flight. If you have the option to do this, use it!

You'll usually be offered a wide selection of quality wines and spirits, so take your time and get acquainted with the menu - this is the time to treat yourself! Feel free to ask a member of staff for their recommendations, as that is what they are trained to do!

With all the excitement of flying Business Class the last thing you probably want to do is sleep. You'll probably want to watch ALL the movies and try one of everything from the menu! But remember, one of the joys of having a lie-flat bed is the ability to get comfortable, stretch your legs and enjoy a good night's sleep.

If the airline offers a turndown service then simply call a member of cabin crew to prepare your bed for sleep time. Pop on that eye-mask, slip into something comfortable and try to get as much rest as you can before you arrive at your destination.

Take your amenity kit home

Another perk of flying Business Class is the amenity kit, which will usually contain things like perfume, lip balm and luxury skincare products. Amenity kits are great for freshening up on the plane, but they also make a really great souvenir to take home and use again.
