Pacaya Volcano outside of Antigua, Guatemala is one of the few volcanoes you can actually camp on.
Not only that, you're able to practically walk on top of lava — inches below your feet.
Many hiking tours operate directly from Antigua and typically take half a day. It's well-worth the time and money (shop around for the best price) because it's honestly an unforgettable experience.
Once you get to the stopping point of the hike (not the top of the volcano because it's too hot up there), you can stop and roast marshmallows over the flowing magma.
Be sure to wear relatively thick shoes because two girls on my hike almost had their shoes melted off their feet.
