Our tip for a happy weekend in Berlin:
We stayed in a wonderful apartment at Prenzlauerberg just at the edge to Berlin Mitte.
It is excellent to reach by public transport and just next to the UBahn station called Senefelderplatz. Furthermore a perfect place to start exploration of Germany’s colourful capital.
The area around Prenzlauerberg is a lively but not too crowded district – also on sunny weekends. On those days everybody gets out to soake up the sun and meet neighbours or friends. The only crowded spots are playgrounds and cafes. Nearby there are lots of cafes, bars and restaurants with delicious food. All along the impressive, wide (grand) avenues you'll find little exclusive shops with special stuff. So Prenzlauerberg is worthwhile spending some free time.
In Berlin Mitte you'll find most of Berlin’s main attractions – the government district, the tv tower on the Alexanderplatz, the Brandenburgertor or the Siegessaäule.
The apartment itself is pretty big with 3 bedrooms for up to 6 persons. The rooms are spaciously and in a modern style. Very comfortable are the two bathrooms both with shower and toilette. The biggest room is also used as a living room – a big sofa and a hugh flat screen invite to relax after a long city trip. For people who like to feed oneself – the kitchen offers everything you need.
The once who prefer to eat out, after a long day you just step out and have a big variety of restaurants.
Some insider tips for the surrounding:
- Café Greisslerei at Kunsthalle, Linienstrasse 41,
It is a hugh container hall with 3 floors and a great window front. The food is tasty and the waitress is courteous.
- Cafe Anna Blume, Kollwitzstrasse 83,
It is great to share a breakfast. Then choose the etagere with lots of different delectability’s. They also have a great variety of cakes and icecream.
- Si an – Vietnamesiches Restaurant, Rykestrasse 36, 10405 Berlin,
Tasty vietnamese food in a magical ambient with lovely decorated dishes and drinks.
Best place for shopping is close to Kastanienallee but you’ll find individual little shops almost everywhere between Kastanienallee and Kollwitzstrasse and the streets around.
What a happy weekend in Berlin.
