Las Vegas is a city of vibrant colours, entertaining characters, fascinating sights, luxury hotels, and grand casinos, where your luck can change in an instant and you can get married on demand if you so wish.
With such an eclectic mix of activities to partake in you would be forgiven for not knowing where to start; do you work your way down the famous strip and hit every casino until your luck runs out, or do you choose where to go at random?
Personally I am a fan of planning, and making a list of the destinations that I want to visit to ensure that I get a chance to visit them, but I also schedule in some free time so that I can 'go with the flow'. It is a system that has served me well, and that many people have adopted after I have informed them of it.
If you are planning a holiday to Las Vegas in 2012 then check out my list of top attractions to visit during your stay.
The Fountains at The Bellagio
As enchanting as they are iconic, the fountains of The Bellagio hotel and casino are the must see experience of visiting the Las Vegas strip. Shows run every half hour, and are a spectacular way to start and end your trip.
Cirque Du Soleil perform 'Love' by The Beatles
Located at the Mirage casino and hotel, Cirque Du Soleil have adapted the songs of The Beatles into a visually spectacular display of acrobatics and stage performances. If you can get a ticket for this show then you will be guaranteed a very special evening indeed.
'Dig This' Heavy Equipment Playground
If you ever played in a sand pit as a child and enjoyed using one of those 'sit on' diggers to shovel a pile of sand from one side of the pit to another, then you are about to be blown away. Las Vegas offers you the chance to spend a day riding around in an actual heavy duty digger! You'll be transporting more than just sand, as you negotiate the obstacle courses with varying loads to move and challenges to overcome. A true experience for all the big kids out there!
The Stratosphere tower is the tallest freestanding tower in the entire USA, and is home to the world's highest roller coaster, as well as the tallest controlled freefall on the planet. If you've got a few bucks to spare, and very little regard for the state of your underwear, then having a ride on 'Insanity' or throwing yourself off the tower courtesy of 'SkyJump' is the way to go.
Caesar's Palace Casino
One of the many casinos that line the famous Strip, Caesar's is the quintessential experience for new and returning visitors, and is a truly fantastic place to indulge in all your gaming needs.
I hope you enjoy your trip, and that you get as much out of visiting Las Vegas as I did!
