After seeing syringes used repeatedly on several patients at a health clinic in Peru, I vowed to always travel with my own syringes.
My travel doctor thought this request was a bit strange, but reality is that many hospitals in third world countries are often understocked with supplies of medical equipment, medicine and yes, even syringes.
I never want to find myself in a medical situation where the best case scenario is a second hand syringe that may or may not have been cleaned with bleach.
