Falling in Love with Jordan

Falling in Love with Jordan

As we entered a new year, I still wasn’t sure if we would be able to take our annual family vacation.

My job routine was crazy hectic and my eldest daughter had joined college. Back in February I wasn’t even sure if I would get more than a week off. God works in mysterious ways. As time went by, my workplace went through major restructuring and HR policies changed as well. Suddenly I had the option of taking 15 days paid leaves. And even better all my children had their spring break at more or less the same time.

I had my heart set on Jordan. When I shared this with my spouse and children, they were on board immediately. We all enjoy history and new cultures, so for us Jordan seemed like a great destination.

I was able to bag cheap flight tickets to Amman for the entire family due to the accumulated miles in my account and let’s just say a bit of luck. It was like destiny wanted me to take this vacation.

Visiting Jordan is one of the best decisions I have taken and I am sure you will love it too.

We stayed at the Larsa Hotel in Amman. And I would give it a 9 out of 10 based on my experience. Since it is not an expensive hotel, don’t expect too many luxuries. The rooms are clean and the service good, what else can a budget traveler want? I loved that the hotel was close to major tourist attractions in the city.

We particularly enjoyed the Roman theatre, Jordan Archaeological museum, Amman Citadel, King Abdullah Mosque and Byzantine Church in Jordan’s capital. It was also fun just roaming around in the hustling and bustling streets of Amman. If you are into shopping, then you will enjoy even more.

Any vacation is incomplete without a bit of beaching. And Aqaba has the most beautiful beaches. You can do fun activities like snorkeling and scuba diving in this diverse and fun city.

This archaeological city is one of the main reasons why I chose Jordan as our vacation destination. It is amazing how much history the city boasts. A UNESCO world heritage site since the 80’s, the city is a top tourist destination in Jordan. Exploring Petra is one of the most magical and cherished experiences. Main attractions in the city are Petra World Heritage Site, Monastery, Al-Beidha, Byzantine church, Petra kitchen, Obelisk tomb, The Great Temple and Mosesquelle.

There is no shortage of historical sites in Jerash either. The Jerash ruins and Ajloun Fort were my two personal favorite historical sites in the city. Jerash also has a variety of good restaurants. Some of the best eateries there, are Lebanese House, Artemis restaurant and Al-Khayyam. Lebanese cuisine is definitely the highlight in Jordan.

Touring Jordan turned out to be better than I expected. Its culture and surroundings are unique and exciting.

I would definitely recommend it to all travelers around the world.
