Is the Explore Ljubljana Card Worth It?

Is the Explore Ljubljana Card Worth It?

While many of us hope to be called travellers and not tourists, there are some things that you just shouldn’t avoid. For example, I’m certainly a traveller, a sustainable traveller for that matter, but I have no problem what-so-ever if you decide to call me a tourist because I purchase the city tourist card in every city I visit.

Whether you’re planning on exploring the back roads and off-the-beaten-tracks of the city, or the top 10 most visited attractions online, city cards are always worth the money.

Let’s look at the Explore Ljubljana Card for example.

It may be called the “Ljubljana Tourist Card” but it’s for certainly more than just tourists. I actually use the tourist card in my hometown city as well.

The Ljubljana Tourist Card offers you a wide array of discounts, free entrance tickets and tips. Even when I’m in a city and planning on avoiding all museums and tourist attractions, the card still serves as an affordable way to take unlimited transportation and often a free bike rental too.

Here’s just a few things the Ljubljana Card offers to give you a better idea:

  • Free public transport

  • Free 4 hour bike rental

  • Free entrance to the Ljubljana Castle and Funicular

  • Free tourist train

  • Free tourist boat

  • Free guided city tours

  • Free 5 hour digital guide

  • Free internet access at the tourist info point

  • Free entrance to the zoo

  • Free entrance to more than a dozen museums and art galleries

While some cities differ, Ljubljana, Slovenia offers a few different card options including 24 hours, 48 hours and 72 hours.

How about you? What was your experience like buying a city tourist card? Did you visit it all? If not, was it still worth it?
