If you are planning a vacation for more than a few days then renting an apartment may be a better choice than staying in a hotel. Apartments give you that extra leg room between the bed, sofa, and bathroom area found in hotels and allows you the luxury to get comfortable and can even make you feel at home.
Staying in a rental apartment instead of a hotel saves you money especially on having to eat out for every meal and being forced to find the cheapest meal available; by having cooking facilities which allow you to cook before you go out. It also gives you a feel of the local environment and not just the tourist areas.
There are three main factors you must consider when looking for apartment rentals for vacation:
1. Location, location, location
Location can be considered to be the most important factor when deciding where to rent your vacation apartment. Where the apartment is located has a domino effect on other factors as well as on costing.
For example, location gives rise or answers to questions like:
- Is it near public transportation?
- Will I need to rent a car or bring my own? If I need a vehicle, is parking available nearby?
- Is it near the places or sites I want to visit?
- Is the neighborhood safe?
- Do I want an apartment with a view?
- Are amenities communal e.g. pool area?
Therefore, before making your choice do a bit of research, check maps and see how long it will take for you to get to the places you want to see. While staying in a residential area has many benefits, if it takes long to get to the sites you want to see there is a cost incurred of time and money. Therefore, be sure to choose a rental apartment that is near to the places you want to visit during your stay.
2. Rental price
Take your lodging budget into consideration. Do the math; if the nightly rate for the rental apartment for vacations is similar or just above that of staying in a hotel consider the cost saving done by cooking your own food instead of eating out for every meal, consider the cost saving of doing your own laundry rather than paying for it in a hotel. When deciding on a rental apartment, look out for extra charges not included in the main rental like cleaning and service fees.
Decide what things are important to you during your vacation. If you will need to catch up on some work or check emails, you will need to look at the amenities that are offered by the rental apartment.
Amenities can include:
- Washing machine
- Full kitchen facility and not just a hot plate
- Central heating or air conditioning
