Crossing the Bosphorus to get from the European side of Istanbul to the Asian side is a must when visiting the city.
Many people tend to buy tickets on boats intended for tourists. Unfortunately, those tickets are usually much more expensive.
Instead, buy a ticket on one of the commuter ferries for a handful of cents, ride with the locals and experience daily life for many Istanbul citizens.
Furthermore, if you intend on boating up the Bosphorus to the black sea, hop from ferry to ferry and stop off in the smaller local fishing towns rather than taking an expensive tourist boat.
