If you're fed up of all the chain stores and restaurants around Oxford, head to the city's Covered Market for something different.
Located between Cornmarket Street, Turl Street and High Street, the Covered Market has more to offer than just fruit and veg stalls. Open since 1774, the indoor market originally just sold fresh produce, but has expanded over the years to include butchers' shops, a delicatessen, florists, chocolate shops and chic boutiques selling clothing, gifts and jewellery.
Open every day, it's a great choice for lunch, with sandwich shops such as Ricardo's for a cheap and cheerful ciabatta and trendy cafés such as student favourite Georgina's offering an eclectic menu of salads, quiches and nachos.
Whether you visit the Covered Market to shop or refuel, be sure not to miss the delicious cookies on offer at Ben's Cookies - ask which flavours have just come out of the oven.
