The road "Costanera" connecting Quepos to Dominical is finished after 20 years of work! (well, to be realistic, there are still a couple of miles still in proccess).
In what was once lasted 3 hours drive takes about an hour now, is a completely new road, in excellent condition, well demarcated and safer.
Before the trip was absolutely horrible, you had to go sit in the car eating dust in summer and mud in winter, plus many times the condition was so bad he had to turn in alternative ways, and the old bridges, they were quite dangerous, I remember they had a one-way, were of iron without guides on the sides and often broke because of problems with age.
Today the journey is smooth and enjoyable. All bridges are now high, two-way and completely safe.
No doubt the end of this route will allow for increased tourism to the area south of Costa Rica via Highway "Costanera" and remains the case that from Quepos to Dominical is just one hour, no doubt many tourists make their way through Quepos and go to search for hotels in Dominical, Uvita or other beautiful beaches that are in the South Zone of Costa Rica because prices are lower and options are very good.
