Coasteering in Namhae Island, South Korea

Coasteering in Namhae Island, South Korea

Namhae Island’s nick name is ‘Treasure Island’.

?It’s maybe the more we go there, the more we discover. I found coasteering there, which is a new extreme sport.

Coasteering is a new kind of tour which is getting more popular in overseas. You explore coastal rocks and cliffs and when you find high and beautiful rocks or cliffs, you dive from them.

Namhae’s coastal rocks and cliffs are really fabulous, especially once you pass Dumo village’s wave-breaker, you will find this fantastic coastal rocks and cliffs line.

The most important element for coasteering is professional guides but also safety gears like helmet, PFD, gloves, and water shoes.

Especially you'll need the shoes and gloves when you dive into the ocean. It’s because when you try to climb on rocks, you can get deep cut on your fingers or feet from shells on the rocks since they are really sharp, just like knives.

You can also enjoy coasteering in another way. You can approach coastal rocks and cliffs by boat, if it seems really tough to get there by rock climbing or walking.

What I’m feeling, while traveling around Korea for adventure sports is, that there are a lot of places to go and to do those. I regret why I didn’t know these places before, which keep Korea’s own beauties.

I'm just wondering what kind of adventure I will discover next time in Namhae... I'm really excited!
