A Manaslu Expedition is the main attraction for climbers interested in gaining an above 8000m climbing experience.
Location of Manaslu
Mt. Manaslu lies to the north west of Kathmandu. The altitude of 8163m renders Manaslu a moderate experience. Many climbers prefer this climb to Mt Cho-oyu and Shishapangma of the 8000m expedition.
The government of Nepal provides 45 days valid permits but restricted area permits are additionally required through the department of immigration. However, the permit from the department of tourism and immigration will provide the other permit free of charge.
Planning the Hike
The world’s fifth highest peak of Manaslu is situated mid west of Nepal. The expedition campaign will take six weeks. After 8 hours drive from Kathmandu you will reach Arughat of the Gorkah district. From Arughat, trekking starts, to reach up to base camp in six days. One month should be allotted for climbing acclimatization and rope fixing.
The Routes to Summitting Manaslu
The long ridge valley glaciers of Manaslu provide a summit that towers steeply above its surrounding landscape. Normally six different routes to Manaslu Expedition exist today of which the south face is the most challenging in climbing history. The Manaslu climbing route follows a relatively straightforward line to the summit, which has some technical sections. Normally, four camps are set up during Manaslu climbing after the Advanced Base Camp. After the Base Camp, climbers have to face a few stretches of steep climbing and crevasses from Camp I to Camp II, slippery snow climbing is required from Camp II to Camp III and the possibility of facing avalanches from Camp III to Camp IV during the attempts.
History of Climbing Manaslu
As per record, the first attempt to Manaslu was made in 1953 by a Japanese team from the Budhi Gandaki Valley, however, it was unsuccessful and the first ascent succeeded in 1956. Since then it has been facing a series of success and failure stories for approaching the summit.

You can choose the best agency to make your dreams come true and make real a memorable expedition in Nepal.
