Soweto is not just the biggest township of South Africa, with around 3,5 million people, but it's also known for the Soweto Uprising, where around 10.000 students demonstrated and got shot by policemen on 16 June 1976. Today it's where you can do bicycle tours!
I have to say, after traveling around 39 countries, and speaking very little of only a handful of languages, I have discovered that the way you say something is much more important than how you say it!
That's the smile which welcomes you in South Africa. Expect to find it everywhere, but we found it in Soweto, Johannesburg.
Toba people always smile even if they don't know person. The Batak Toba people, also called Toba People or often simply 'Batak', are the most numerous of the Batak people of North Sumatra, Indonesia.
