We flew from Melbourne to Hobart and rented a car to explore the island for around $100 for three days plus insurance with Thrifty. The main reason why we wanted to see Tasmania was Wineglass Bay, located in Freycinet National Park.
Tasmania is that tiny Island state below mainland Australia. While it is easily overlooked by many tourists, it is definitely a place worth putting in the effort to see.  
Tasmania is beautiful any time of year, but it is having a particularly dry and bright spring this year.
