Rio Dulce is considered the Amazon of Guatemala and it's certainly one of the most beautiful and tropical locations I've visited in Guatemala.
However, the poverty on the river itself is growing faster than it can be contained. This is a typical river house normally with an average family of 5 kids.
You can see the kids in tiny canoes paddliing over to you with little animals in thier canoes from the surrounding eco system like parrots, crabs, fish as a way to beg for money.
Sometimes there could be over 5 little canoes at one time surrounding your boat full of kids from 3- 10 years old begging.
