The Southern Alps of New Zealand

The Southern Alps of New Zealand

This is from the country New Zealand. The Southern Alps is a mountain range extending along much of the length of New Zealand's South Island, reaching its greatest elevations near the island's western side. The mountains are cut through with glacial valleys and lakes.

The Southern Alps run 450 km north to south and the tallest peak is Mount Cook (Aoraki), the highest point in New Zealand at 3,754 metres.
