Socotra Island: The Galapagos of the Indian Ocean

Socotra - a UNESCO World Natural Historical Site - is a world of itself. Located east of the horn of Africa in the Indian Ocean it created an unique fauna and flora over million of years.

Around a third of its plants are nowhere else found on earth. The most striking plant is the dragon´s blood tree. Famous for its red soak, which gives it the name dragons blood.

Qalansiah lagoon is one of the highlights at Socotra. From the viewpoint, you have an amazing overview and in around 30 minutes you can walk  to the campsite. You shoud be aware of stingrays. 

The lagoon itself contains a lot of marine species like stingrays, ballon fish, oysters, calamari and others. 

A simple campsite with showers and toilets are there.
