Lamu is one of my favourite places in Africa, and getting around is a joy.
There are no cars in the old town and if you want to get between islands you really need to take a dhow.
The young men that crew the dhows are incredible sailors. I hope this image captures some of their strength and agility.
The colours are not altered. The shot was taken with a 50mm lens on Velvia 50. Behind me was a low late afternoon sun, hence the rich reds to contrast the blue of the sea and sky.
I particularly like the triangular shapes this image throws.
I hope you enjoy it too.
