Here’s an amazing sunset over San Gimignano in Tuscany, one of Italy’s real jewels.
San Gimignano suddenly appears while riding the hills of the Tuscan countryside.
At first glance, it could seems to be staring at a medieval skyline, because of the towers clearly visible in the distance.
In 1300 the towers were built by wealthy families to show their power and were demolished by its enemies for the same reason. Today just 13 remain of the 72 towers of the Middle Age.
Amazingly preserved medieval architecture and fortified walls complete the picture of an unforgettable hamlet which is nowadays an UNESCO - protected World Heritage Site.
The surroundings are not less interesting and offer an opportunity to get immersed in pristine nature, where it is not unusual to see deer and boar just as back in the Middle Ages and appreciate such a stunning sunset over the city.
