The Selous Game Reserve, general information & good to know

General Information:
The Selous Game Reserve is my insider travel Tip for a great Safari. Did you by the way know, that safari means travel? Well in this point I mean safari as travel, but also for a great wildlife adventure!

It belongs to the UNSECO world heritage since 1982 and it’s with around 52.000 km² the biggest secured wildlife area of Africa.

The Selous game reserve lies in the south of Tanzania. That is one of the reasons, why it’s not so popular by tourists, as other highlights like the Serengeti, Mount Kiliminjaro & the Ngorongoro crater are in the north. Then there is also to be considered that the road to get there is already a nice adventure. Especially if you are leaving too late in Dar es Salaam, like we did.

Good to know:
The entry costs for the park will be around $30 per person and per day. If you have decided to camp, you won’t be able to buy any food. So take enough supplies and especially water with you.
