Post It to Forget It

Sure, a lot of Thais speak english, but that doesn't mean confusion stops there!

We got into our own scuffle in Bangkok when we were told that a taxi was going to cost 150 baht. When we got to our destination he said it was actually 1,500 baht.

 

That's a big difference.

 

Our solution now is to carry a small stack of Post It Notes with us. We (or the driver) writes down the total for the trip and we can stick that post it where everyone can see it and it takes away much of the confusion.

This is also a great tip for hotel rooms, bartering for that Buddha head or sweet-talking a tour guide.
