Learn South Korea more! start with National Museum of Korea

Museum and local market are top of my ‘must visit places’ list no matter where I go. That is a good way to set my mind to experience and understand native’s culture as much as possible.

Here I introduce one of the best ways to start enjoying Korea; museum wise.

As you all might know, Korea has such a sad and interesting history at the same time. They went through countless wars but they also were art loving people even in the tough situations.
You can indirectly experience their beautiful culture at National museum of Korea (NMK).

National museum of Korea is the beloved center of Korean cultural heritage. Year 2009 is the 100th anniversary of NMK. In year 2005, it moved and re-built in current location.

Permanent exhibit show Korean heritage from Archeological gallery to Fine Arts gallery. They showcase the origin of Korean society and even allow visitors experience Korean culture. Art related sections represent Korea’s own beautiful language called “Han-geul”, arts such as sculpture, crafts and many more outstanding cultural relics.

If you want to explore more in the historic world, fulfill your extra enthusiasm at the special exhibits. Currently “The Great Myth and Mystery of Peruvian Civilization INCA” and “The Crossroads of Civilizations: Ancient Culture of Uzbekistan” are showing.

NMK is not just about knowledge. It is basically located in a very big park called ‘Youngsan Family Park’ filled with trees, flowers and a pond. One of the biggest nature parks you can find in Seoul. After the big visit, why don’t you walk around the beautiful park?

Another charm of NMK is revealing with sunset. At the top floor of the museum, if you look around, a gorgeous night view is just right there in front of you. Right beside of the theater ‘Yong’ has the best spot. Shiny little road lamps are twinkling around the Seoul N Tower.
