Home comforts: a bare necessity
Travelers, by nature, crave the unknown.
We throw ourselves into new situations: facing new environments, new people, new foods, and so on. This is all fine and dandy, but after you've spent enough time on the road, you inevitably start to crave the little things.
In Southeast Asia the man qualm was "this BREAD tastes like CAKE!" - nobody can deal with that. Which is where your one home comfort comes in.
That's my travel tip: always bring a home comfort for those times of need.
For me, it has to be Marmite.
Apart from being a great source of Vitamin B and masking up the sweetness of cake-bread, it reminds me of home. Sitting on the sofa with Marmite on toast and a cup of tea: now we're talking.
So that's it: when entering the unknown, always pack a little home comfort to cling to!
What's your home comfort on the road?
