Holy Week in the Region of Murcia

Murcia region's Holy Week offers a suggestive mixture of passion, colour and religious fervour.

Experience its spectacular parades and enjoy its baroque imagery, the richness of its thrones and the floral profusion of its floats, bathed by the Mediterranean sun.

Each city and village experience in a special way this popular expression, in which different Brotherhoods go through the streets in order to perform the episode of Christ's passion, death and resurrection. A centuries-old tradition that takes place every year, each year being more intense than the previous one.

The fact that Murcia's Holy Week, Cartagena's Holy Week and Lorca's Holy Week have been declared to be of International Tourist Interest, and that Jumilla's and Mula's have been declared to be of National Tourist Interest, turns the region's Holy Week into a prestigious one.

Each place offers a particular characteristic that makes it be unique: meditation and martialism in Cartagena, spectacular big performances in Lorca, historical rigour in Jumilla, the tamborada -celebration with drums- in Mula and the beauty of Salzillo's sculptures going through the streets in the city of Murcia.
