Rocks, Sea and the Pretty Village of Algajola at Dusk
I spent a wonderful few days staying in Algajola, on the north west coast of Corsica last June while working for Corsican Places in France.
I was up early in the morning to catch the same view just after sunrise but I prefered this shot taken about half an hour after sunset when its getting dark but there is still some light in the sky.
Agajola is a lovely village about 7 miles north of Calvi airport.
There are some very good restaurants, a couple of shops, a few very nice hotels, a small citadel and a really beautiful beach; a sweeping bay of golden said known as Aregno Plage.
The little train that runs along the coast here is a brilliant way to visit the lovely seaside town of L'Ile Rousse or beautiful Calvi, with its marina and ancient citadel plus there are plenty of stops from where you can find pretty secluded beaches. There are beautiful views from the train of the coast line and inland into the mountains so make sure you have your camera handy!
To see more of the area it is best to hire a car but be warned the roads are not for the faint hearted and allow plenty of time to get anywhere as the narrow roads twist and turn through the mountains meaning journeys take at least twice, if not three times as long to get anywhere than you would think.
You will be well rewarded though with spectacular views down to the coast and charming hillside villages to explore.
