Inside the Puebla Cathedral

The Puebla Cathedral dominates the UNESCO designated Historic Center in Puebla, Mexico.

The question travelers to Puebla are left to grapple with after a visit is whether the church is more beautiful on the outside, at night, or inside.

Pueblas Cathedral

An interesting footnote: in the front right hand chapel there's a tomb. It's the tomb of General Miramon who was executed by a firing squad along with Gen. Marquez and Emperor...

Maximillian in Queretero. Miramons wife asked the church's permission to bury him there. He was considered by the Liberals as a traitor,for aiding the French. But the Catholic Church considered him a Hero and as soon as Juarez died they granted permission (and probably along with a hefty donation from the Generals wife). Very few people know about this.

Thanks Mark. It definitely was amazing inside. The cathedral is also gorgeous at night all lit up.

Beautiful shot of the details on the interior of the cathedral. The interior was definitely way more over the top than the exterior. Looking at it when I was there I wouldn't...

have guessed what the interior looked like but I'm glad I took the time to go in.
