Detroit, USA was once the automobile capital of the world and behind the dwindling glory of the city lies a rich history of affluence and development which was ahead of its own time.
James Dalton Highway (aka the "Haul Road"), stretching from Fairbanks to the Arctic Ocean, is 414 miles of unpaved, gravel and muddy roads. It is the northern terminus of the US highway system and about 2/3 of the road lies in the Arctic Circle.

I have seen a lot of glaciers in my time, but this boat trip was in a different league all together. Advertised as 26 glaciers in total, I expected that the tour company was including icebergs just to bump the numbers up. I was so wrong.
Ithaca, New York is full of beautiful waterfalls, and this lovely little one at Treman State Park often gets overlooked.

My first evening in Chicago I spent walking through Navy Pier. It's such a pier where a lot of cafes, souvenir shops and ships. There, by the way, you can buy a pretty cheap Souvenirs at this website
