There is much to see in the historic town Paro: - National Museum of Bhutan. Located in a former watch tower (which itself is a museum piece) above the dzong, the museum displays artifacts from Bhutan's history as well as examples of indigenous flora and fauna.
Paro (population 4,500) is a town in in the south west of Bhutan. Paro is a historic town with many sacred sites and historical buildings scattered through the area. In addition, the Paro Valley is wide and verdant and is recognized a one of the most beautiful in all Bhutan.
We survived the gruelling hike up to the Tiger's Nest Monastery, perched on the side of a Himalayan mountain at 3,120 metres (10,240 ft), about 900 metres (3,000 ft) almost straight up. It was strenuous and tricky because of the high altitude, steep incline, and rough terrain.
