Real Italy, Montalto delle Marche, Italy, Europe
Le Marche is a beautiful region of Italy and sits on the Adriatic coast roughly parallel to Rome. This is the REAL ITALY, unspoilt my mass international tourism and is one of Italy's best kept secrets - this is where Italians come to holiday!
Your apartment, La Torre Sopra, is set over the top two floors of this stunning 500 year old townhouse with an attached tower being a mere 700 years old. It is a large apartment covering 100sqm and sleeps up to six guests comfortably.
Your accommodation has been recently refurbished and you will be in the heart of this picture postcard medieval hill top village with coffee bars, shops and restaurants within easy reach. Montalto delle Marche is a well serviced village with a population of about 2500.
EARLY BIRD SPECIAL OFFER:
Book 6 months or more in advance and save 10% off our normal rates. Discount is applied automatically when you book your accommodation. Excludes stays in June, July and August. Normal weekly rates in La Torre Sopra start at just €475 and this price is for the whole apartment, not per person, so offers great value.
THE TOWN AND AREA
The medieval town of Montalto delle Marche lies between the Adriatic Coast and the Sibillini National Park. The nearest blue flag beaches of Grottammare, San Benedetto and Pedaso are 25 minutes away and the National Park which is popular with walkers and mountain bikers is 35 minutes inland.
The town has a population of about 2500 so is well serviced with a number of shops, restaurants, local bars, a post office, newsagent, grocer, butcher, bank etc.
Many of our guests enjoy the atmosphere that the town offers but if you are looking to explore the region here are some suggestions:
The town is 25 minutes from the provincial capital of Ascoli Piceno which is famous for its architecture, old travertine marble squares, churches, museums and is thought to be older than Rome. It is also packed with boutiques and cafe bars so is perfect for people watching.
The Frasassi Caves, thought to be the largest limestone caves in Europe are well worth a visit - they have frequent tours during the summer months.
Rome can easily be visited on a day trip and there are air conditioned buses from Grottamare to the centre of Rome daily.
The town of Loreto is within easy reach and here you can see the House of Nazareth where Mary was born and is a focal point for pilgrims throughout the world.
Assisi in Umbria is a good daytrip and you can see the tomb of St Francis of Assisi, the Patron Saint of Italy.
